Foreign Secretary James Cleverly is set to visit the Philippines amid efforts to spice up ties with the nation.
The senior Cupboard minister is visiting the Philippines for the primary time on Tuesday.
It comes after a brand new partnership masking local weather, commerce and overseas coverage was launched between the UK and the Philippines in December 2021.
The visit will see Mr Cleverly meet with President Ferdinand Marcos Jr and Foreign Secretary Enrique Manalo.
The Indo-Pacific area is seen as of key significance for the UK’s safety pursuits, with Mr Cleverly making a number of journeys there since taking on his function final 12 months.
“I’m delighted to visit the Philippines for the primary time, a spot which shares widespread values and pursuits with the UK,” Mr Cleverly mentioned.
“We’re increasing our areas of collaboration by rising our commerce and funding by means of British funding partnerships and deepening co-operation on safety, maritime and local weather.”
