Fourteen-year-old boy suffers stroke at wrestling camp

A 14-year-old boy is recovering after struggling a stroke at an Oklahoma wrestling camp.

Luke Champion, an eighth-grade pupil at Tuttle Center Faculty in Tuttle, Oklahoma, had received his final match at the Oklahoma State College camp when his mom observed one thing was badly fallacious.

“I simply commented to his brother that he appeared sleepy after which he laid again and I’m like, We’re going must go wake your brother up as a result of he has to wrestle once more,” stated Valorie Champion.

“I yelled at him to get up and he opened his eyes and as quickly as he did, his face drooped and he began slurring his phrases.”

Ms Champion stated she knew it was a stroke as her different son had one as a child.

Luke was taken to the hospital in Stillwater after which transferred to OU Kids’s Hospital in Oklahoma Metropolis to endure a number of mind surgical procedures for a blood clot.

“He instantly went in and had a thrombectomy, which is that they go in and mainly retrieve the clot,” stated his mom.

“He began experiencing some mind swelling and never simply actually waking up. They went in and did a craniotomy, which is mainly they open up the aspect of his cranium and it permits for his mind to develop.”

Luke has now been woken up and brought off a ventilator and began on remedy.

“It’s all form of beginning to crash in on him that he’s within the hospital,” she added. “He’s harm sufficient that he’s received the world praying for him.

In a video message for a rally at his faculty, Luke advised his supporters, “I like you.”
