Police find body in search for 54-year-old woman missing while walking her dog in Kent

Police investigating the disappearance of a 54-year-old woman have discovered discovered a body as a person in his 20s stays in custody on suspicion of her homicide.

Claire Knights, from Upstreet close to Canterbury, was final seen in the village on August 23.

It’s believed she was walking her white and brown spaniel referred to as Zebulon from there to the realm of Minnis Bay in Birchington, the place she was reportedly seen that afternoon.

A body was discovered in a location close to to Minnis Bay at 7pm on Friday, and the household of Ms Knights have been knowledgeable.

A Kent Police spokesman stated that the demise was being handled as suspicion.

He stated: “Officers have attended a location close to Minnis Bay, Birchington, the place a woman was discovered deceased.

“Kent Police was alerted by a member of the general public shortly after 7pm on Friday August 25 2023 and patrols are at the moment on the scene.

“Formal identification has not but taken place, nevertheless, the household of a 54-year-old woman reported missing from Upstreet on Wednesday August 23 are conscious.

“The demise is being handled as suspicious and on Thursday August 24, a person in his 20s from Margate was arrested on suspicion of homicide.

“There can be an elevated police presence in the realm while investigations into the circumstances are below manner.”

It’s understood that the person in his 20s has been detained for evaluation by medical professionals.
