Police issue statement on Drew Barrymore’s alleged stalker following arrest

Police have issued a statement after a person was arrested for allegedly stalking actor and TV presenter Drew Barrymore.
The person, 43-year-old Chad Michael Busto of Washington, DC, had tried to hurry the stage whereas Barrymore was talking at a New York Metropolis panel occasion earlier this week.
Busto was detained by police in New York’s Southampton City space on Thursday (24 August).
The native police division issued a statement with additional particulars on the arrest.
“Patrol officers had beforehand made contact with Busto, whereas investigating a 911 name of a suspicious particular person, throughout the afternoon hours of 23 August,” it learn. “Busto was positioned within the Village of Sagaponack, City of Southampton.”
Earlier than the arrest, Busto had allegedly been travelling across the neighbourhood on a bicycle and telling native residents that he was looking for Barrymore’s dwelling.
“He was suspected of stalking Ms Barrymore because of earlier incidents involving the actor,” the police spokesperson said. “After a short detainment for questioning by responding officers, Busto was launched, and appeared to have left the realm.”
Following the encounter, the patrol officers notified the police’s detective division, who performed a follow-up investigation.

“Their investigation led to information that substantiated a cost for Stalking and a needed flyer was distributed to neighboring businesses,” the statement continued.
“Through the afternoon of August twenty fourth, East Hampton City Police positioned the suspect, took him into custody and subsequently turned him over to Southampton City Police detectives for arrest processing. Busto was charged with Stalking within the 4th diploma, a category ‘B’ misdemeanor. Busto shall be held in a single day to seem in Southampton City Justice Courtroom at morning arraignment.”
On Monday night (21 August), Barrymore was being interviewed by singer and actor Renée Rapp for an occasion at Manhattan’s 92nd Road Y venue.

Whereas she was talking, a person approached the stage, yelling, “Drew Barrymore! I’m Chad Michael Busto. You understand who I’m. I have to see you in some unspecified time in the future when you’re in New York…”
At this level, safety intervened, and escorted the person away, whereas Rapp walked Barrymore offstage.
