Whoopi Goldberg defends Barbie against ‘emasculated’ conservatives: ‘It’s a movie about a doll!’

Whoopi Goldberg has defended the brand new Barbie movie against conservative backlash.
On her ABC chat present The View on Tuesday (25 July), Goldberg, 67, shared clips of right-wing commentators together with Ted Cruz and Ben Shapiro criticising the brand new Greta Gerwig comedy.
Republican Texas senator Cruz accused the filmmakers of “making an attempt to kiss as much as the Chinese language communist occasion” (over the movie’s portrayal of the South China Sea) whereas Shapiro known as the movie “indignant, feminist claptrap”.
Taking a pause, Goldberg responded: “It’s a movie! It’s a movie about a doll.
“I assumed y’all can be comfortable. She has no genitalia, so there’s no intercourse concerned. Ken has no genitalia!”
The host continued: “The youngsters understand it’s vibrant and it’s Barbie. They haven’t lived by way of what the adults have lived by way of. So once they’re seeing this movie, that’s not how they’re it. The youngsters are it as a Barbie movie.
“You guys, I need y’all to inform your daughters why you’re not taking them to the Barbie movie,” she added. “I need you to elucidate to them what’s flawed with Barbie.”
Goldberg’s co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin steered that right-wing commentators like Cruz and Shapiro had been “out of contact” with real-life Republicans as her buddies from either side of the political spectrum had “lined up” to see the Margot Robbie-led image.
“I’m so taken by a few of these right-wing males who’ve all these ideas on masculinity,” Farah Griffin stated. “Like, in some way, the Barbie movie Goes to make them really feel emasculated. No, caring a lot about it’s actually probably the most emasculating factor I might suppose about it.”
Shapiro confronted intense mockery on-line for his 43-minute-long tirade against Barbie, which he shared on his YouTube channel on Saturday (22 July).

The video started with the columnist bizarrely setting fireplace to a bin filled with Barbie and Ken dolls. Shapiro’s criticisms included the presence of a transgender character and its general satire of the patriarchy.
